A Birthday Ride...

Today, being my birthday I went for a ride to nowhere in particular yet ended up discovering a whole new area - located 15kms from Chez Passet I found a road that took me into an adjacent valley with spectacular views. There was no one around, didn't see a car and came upon many a little village with a few friendly people obviously wondering what the hell a cyclist was doing up there.

it was only a 80kms loop but felt like 150 as the road went straight up and the climb never seemed to end - I like finding these little gems and look forward to showing some guests this route should they wish...

The mountains have become much quieter since the TDF has been and gone, the corn fields are full which makes cycling the secondary roads even better as you really feel away from it all...

After the ride it was off to lunch and then dinner with some friends, so a perfect day.

Coming up... a few hard core cyclist are arriving soon which will be a few tough days - gotta like that...
