Col du Tourmalet et Ouvert...

Today was my first accent of the Col du Tourmalet from the west side - it's being used in stage 17 of the TDF and also in the next 3 CycloSportives for me so I thought I'd check it out...

A little windy at the top as you can hear in the video but an epic, classic, historical climb that will feature heavily in this years TDF and Etape du Tour.

Lot's of riders out and the season is in full swing - it's a 100 kms loop from Chez Passet which took me under 4hours to complete...

This Saturday is" La Pyrénéenne CycloSportive" (www.lapyreneenne.a3w.eu) - 174 kms with 3 big mountains to climb so this is the first "real" test of the season... and the forecast at the moment is rain...

For the record the statue is that of Jacques Goddet - one of the Directos of the TDF... a French legend.

The Bar is located at the top of the Col and is full of TDF memorabilia - old bikes, photos and great food when you need to re-energize the body.
