Today's Sportive was the last major one before the Etape du Tour on July 18th.
I was very weary at the start as there were lots of people looking to test themselves as this "parcour" took in 2 of the 3 major climbs that will be used.
The start was very quick indeed and included a few crashes as everyone was trying to get to the front - I had no illusions on that one and just played it safe.
The route up the Tourmalet took us up the left side of Baréges which I think the Etape/TDF will use so it was good to check it out as I've now ridden the whole route and feel pretty good about it (scared but good).
The Sun broke through on the Soulor - the temperature rose dramatically and the road has been repaired so no more surprises (except all the "little hills" along the way...) - it's a stunning view across the valley.
Plan now is ride a few gentle rides and then rest next week ahead of the "greatest riding experience" that I will have.
