CycloSportives Around Chez Passet
Well, February is here and that means that the CycloSportive season is about to start - first race on the 15th.
It’s the time of year to realize that all the new gear that you bought in the January sales doesn’t make any difference… it’s the fitness that counts!
I take my cycling easy during the month of January, I try and take a break to recharge my motivation for the upcoming season – so when the flag drops in 2 weeks I’m always amazed as just how fast the race starts and how fit everyone is – I then take a closer look and see that their half my age – does this mean that I’m getting older?
They take off like there’s no tomorrow only for me to (hopefully) to catch a few by the end of the 109km route and then I discover that the majority ride the shorter course (70) they can look good at the finish - it’s a French thing to look good.
The Sportive rolls through the vineyards of the Madiran Region – located about 45mins north of us, one that I’ve ridden for the past 4 years so I know what to expect – kind of!
They provide feed stations, motorcycle support, marshaled intersections, cakes and coffee at the start, a baguette sandwich and bottle of wine at the finish, all for €25 – what a deal!
CycloSportive Season – and so it starts!
