Winter has arrived in the high Pyrenees, we’ve had some strong weather systems roll through covering the higher mountains, leaving the lower ones still accessible.
So, I thought what a good day to ride the Hautacam… and I was right!
It’s not often that I’m able to climb such an iconic mountain with snow on the hill in December.
The descent was fine, no ice in the corners and even met a couple of other cyclists who had the same idea (made me think that I wasn’t crazy to be riding), although they were bundled up from head-to-toe (as the French do) and did look at me rather strange as I was wearing shorts…
Hautacam in December – definitely a fun time!
