Sportive "Souvenir Bernard Becaas"

As per most weekends somewhere in France, today was another Sportive, the "Souvenir Bernard Becaas" - 115 kms with 350 riders. We were in the Jurançon Wine Region, located 1hr north west of Chez Passet. Beautiful undulating countryside with 1 or 2 climbs, made challenging with the heat. Lots of locals out to cheer you on and quite a high level of riders including those from main stream teams - Sky, Caisse D'Epargne & Cofidis.

The pace was quick, the day flew by and it was a great ride despite a flat 5 kms from the finish.  On another note - some French cyclists have to learn that white shorts and tight leg stockings ( compression socks ) look absolutely ridiculous unless on a team bus or in your bedroom (so I'm told), they may be trendy but they still need to give their heads a shake...

Weather has been wonderful here around Chez Passet - 27°, blue skies and definitely a welcome change from the previous weeks of  riding in the rain.

Next up on the agenda is exploring the Valley towards the Col du Tourmalet as the snow is almost gone and the roads are beginning to open - also thinking about a quick visit over to Spain for some more wine...
