The Toughest So Far...

Yesterday was the CycloSortive "La Pyrénéenne", encompassing the 3 valleys of this area - Aure, Campan and Lavedan.

The ride took in the Hautacam, Col d'Aspin and the Hourquette d'Ancizan. - It was a tough day out as I had no idea how things would go on a 174 kms ride with almost 4000 m of elevation gain - it took me 6hrs and 45 mins. at an average speed of 25.3 kms so I was quite pleased with that. Felt pretty good, although the last climb sure had a kick to it...

The roads were semi-closed so it was nice to know that we had the right of way over the cars - especially coming down from the Tourmalet as the speed was way above the posted limit...

Enjoyed the day, and as always the after "fete" was well deserved.

Next up is the CycloSportive " La Béarn Cycl'Espoir" (www.bearn-cycl-espoir.com) in 2 weeks time.

Really enjoy riding the CycloSportives - very well organized, friendly people helping out, and the locals from the little villages along the way come out and cheer you on... makes you feel like your almost a pro...
